It gets better...

I wouldn't believe it if I didn't know it better myself... My dear husband went outside this morning to wipe up some of the oil on the motor of the car and was planning to test it a bit, when oops...the oil lid dropped right inside the motor. But, he just doesn't learn does he. *g* Now it's Saturday and no garage is open, so we're stuck here for the 5th day in a row. We're supposed to be here until next Friday...AAAHHHHHHH!! How will I survive? Hubby works on this computer most of the day... and yes, we are supposed to be on vacation, but the economic crisis is not allowing for a break. That, my dear friends, is leaving me with the kids... all the time, no break. Hubby is on his PC and Grandma takes care of her household all day. That leaves me. And while I am enjoying the kid's company, I do deserve a break too and I'm not getting it...and now we're cooped up in this house in the mountains. If it weren't for internet access, I would go completely besirk! Plus the weather channel promised sun, lots of sun. And guess what...turns out they're lying through their teeth the sorry §$%&/(/&%$!! If I were at home I would have other things to do, like scrap!!

So, getting that out of the way...hope everyone has a splendid day. I know, I know there are people in the world that are off much worse than I am, so I am truly grateful for what I do have - my health, my children, my husband, our house in the mountains (that I wish we weren't stuck in), our families. Nuff said.

So... now it's time for some quick blogging

Hey Folks...

How have you been?  I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and are looking forward to the New Year despite our upcoming recession/depression.  I've been worrying for a few months now, but you know...I've come to the conclusion that there is nothing I can do to stop it at any rate so I'm just going with the flow.  My scrapping business is starting to pick up once again... despite it all, so I'm pretty grateful for that.

Now I'm trying to pick up some photography skills, which are virtually non-existent. But now that I have this wonderful SLR Digi Camera from Canon...a 450D, it would be a "sin" not to learn the possibilities of what it can do. I've been reading a wonderfully refreshing digital photography book by Scott Kelby.  I was afraid it would be boring, but it is hilarious. The guy really has a great sense of humor. He names all kinds of tips and tricks the pros use or substitutions that can be used to make your photos look like the pros. I can only recommend it!

I took a few photos outside in the woods today, but....wrong time of day. The rule is close to dawn or dusk... ah well, can't always time it that way. I'll be posting some soon. CanNOT believe I forgot my tripod though. SHEESH... how can I possibly take good photos without a tripod??!! I guess I'll live. ;-)

So, whether or not we are going anywhere tomorrow remains to be seen, as my dear hubby either put too much oil in the car, didn't close the cap right, or the cap is broken. We don't know which as my DH is not exactly the car mechanic, nor tool guy that fixes things around the house or anything that does not contain a keyboard...which makes me wonder why he decided to put oil in the car in the first place. hhmmmm ;-)

Anyway... believe he's on his way up here to check on me, so gotta go before he "catches" me on his computer! Yikes!!

I just wanted to post some of the Christmas cards I did this year.  I felt REALLY bad last year, because I made some really quicky cards that weren't what people were used to, because I just did NOT have the time. But this year, I "made" time to make special ones.  Here are just a few.  Maybe some can inspire you to do some yourself?

Sympathy card for two sweet friends

A few months ago my best friend Christine's father died.  Very sad, since I've known him since I was 13.  He used to pick us up from anywhere we were and was such a sweet, loving, kind person.  I made this card for her and her family.

And another friend's mom passed away quite suddenly last week at the age of 60.  Again, another very sweet woman that I've known since I was a toddler.  I'm still in a bit of a shock.  I made this one for her.
