Happy Halloweenyyy! ;-)

Hello all of you Halloweenies. ;-) I just wanted to wish you a Happy Halloween with lots of spooky surprises and sweet treats. Don't forget to say "Trick or Treat?" or "Trick or treat, smell my feet, give me something sweet to eat!" hahaha... We can't go to Halloween this year, because we don't have anyone that can sign us onto the base. wahhh.. Oh well, I think we'll live! ;-) Unfortunately, Halloween hasn't really caught on in Germany everywhere, so I wouldn't want to send my kids out only to be turned down by folks who don't celebrate Halloween. But, maybe I'll let them dress up this afternoon anyway! :-)

   

Getting excited about my classes!

On November 22, 2008 I will be holding an introduction to scrapbooking class and a card class in Lörrach. I'm really looking forward to meeting new people and getting them motivated about scrapbooking.  I've been hooked now for 4 years and am so happy to have found a hobby that fulfills me in ways I could never imagine.  Sometimes, it's almost a bit of therapy when I'm feeling anxious.

Scrapbooking for beginners: (Jackie)
The basics of scrapbooking will be explained completing two layouts (double spread) where you will learn basic information about scrapbooking.
Cost: 15.- € (incl. supplies)

New layout ideas for advanced scrappers(Hanna)
Hanna will create two offbeat layouts with you and will be layouts that you have probably not done very often (if ever)!
Cost: 15.- € (incl. supplies)

Adventskalendar (Simea)
We will be creating a beautiful Adventskalendar.
Cost: 20.- € (incl. supplies)

Demonstration: The Cuttlebug
The Cuttlebug is a wonderful diecut and embossing machine and I will demonstrate its advantages.  There will also be a special offer on this machine.

Demonstration: Make your own Clear Stamps
Julia will show you a fantastic stamp case with which you can make your own stamps.  There is also a special offer for the stamp case.

The "male" album
Our men seem to be neglected somewhat when we scrap - many supplies are just very female...Julia will be creating an exciting mini-album for the men in our lives - whether they are the little or the big men. (or it can be a great gift for a man...)

I will pretty up clocks with you scrap style and each one will be one of its kind that might even be a wonderful Christmas gift!

Cards (Jackie)
Jackie will be making 6-8 exciting cards with you in a card marathon for many occasions. Supplies are pre-packed, some pre-cut materials so that you can just go, go, go.

These albums are sooo cool and can be quickly and wonderfully created - aren't we all looking for something like this?

Per class there will be a 5.- EUR fee for the room and refreshments. You are invited for lunch and coffee.

For all of you who wish to attend all day, there will, of course, be a gift for you - and all attendees will take part in the raffle. Anyone who brings a friend will receive a gift certificate for 20.- EUR.

Instead of classes you can also just come to scrap all day.  As I will have all my materials with me (Simea) me, you will have great possibilities there.

I know that there are people out there that don't believe there is such a thing as ADD.  They believe it has something to do with discipline, or that "boys just are that way".  Sorry, do their "boys" also have the problems Danny has faced since Kindergarten?  Having trouble concentrating, being distracted most of the time so that it's difficult to get dressed, brush teeth, pay attention to cars on the street, go to the bathroom, listen in school, obey rules, fit in with other children?? Do they?? I'm sick and tired of listening to parents who just do not understand ADD and are not willing to believe it is real.  Yes, it is real.  My son's brain does not produce enough dopamine to get him "going".  These people look at me like I am not fit to be a parent when they see my son being impulsive or aggressive.  They stare at me when I try to intervene at the playground in order to stop other children from being hurt.  They don't understand that it's actually for their own children's safety.  They think I should just "let him"...the thing is, if I "let him", he's liable to hurt someone. Not willingly mind you, because he is unable to think before he takes action.  That is what being impulsive and ADD is all about.  So, please...parents that don't understand ADD, don't tell me what I should do, because you cannot possibly know what all of us are going through, including Danny.

Go figure....I got the stomach flu too...

And when exactly did I get it? Yes, that's right....yesterday, when I was supposed to hold the card class! DOH!!! I feel like I'm getting life's big kick in the pants at the moment. I mean...what did i ever do so wrong? Then again, there are people that are off much worse.  I try to keep that in mind when I'm fretting over my life. 

So, Danny's day care child minder is ready to kick Danny's butt out of there and I don't blame her.  He's simply not listening and he won't even accept consequences and he's starting to get on the teacher's nerves as well.  Is he an outsider, oh yes.  The other kids cannot stand him! He gets on their nerves, but most of the time, he doesn't know why or he can't control himself, hence the ADD.  We as parents are at a complete loss at the moment.  We do not know what will work anymore or what to do.  He definitely does not belong in special ed, because he's not stupid.  He's actually pretty bright.  So, why does a bright kid go to the bathroom during class and stay there for 15 minutes at a time?  The teacher gets all worried about where he's at and can't leave the classroom to go look for him.  He tells me, "I take the long way back to class."  He said that he has to sit for such a long time and he wants to run around.  Can't really blame him, but he's gotta do what he's gotta do!  And saying "no" to the teacher and the child minder is a big NO NO!  I tried calling an ADD therapist, but she's not available until 3 November. 

We are just totally depressed at the moment and at a complete loss.  If we don't get help fast, he might just be sent to special ed. :-( And there is no way we want that to happen.  All this worrying about him, about my job, and getting sick is almost too much to handle. I'm hoping I will mentally feel better as soon as I'm physically well again.  I've been shaky all day long and had to go shopping.  My landlady helped me with the groceries.  That was embarrassing. :-(

At any rate, wish me luck.  I could really use it at the moment.

I'm still here...

It's only been a few days, but there is a lot going on behind the scenes so to speak.  My son is having problems in school, now he's got the stomach flu and my job is pretty much hanging by a thread, so my nerves are a bit shot.  On Friday evening I'm supposed to be holding a card class and I hope Danny is better by then and doesn't give it to me so I can hold the class. Getting everyone together for it took a while, so I really would like to be able to go through with it.

So, things are a bit depressing at the moment and I'm down. I will be keeping up on Cathy's class though at any rate, cuz it's wonderful.

Pre-Class Assignment & 1st Week of Design Your Life

I'm so relieved that Cathy Zielske's class has finally started! YEAAAAHHHHH!!!!! I'm loving this class a lot so far. This is what I've done up to this point.  Even if you consider yourself a professional, there is always something you can learn!
